DUTIES
General
The District Team Leader is responsible for the oversight of the After-School Good News Clubs (GNC) in the assigned District; ensures the quantity (growth) and quality of the Clubs.
Spiritual
The District Team Leader should demonstrate a balance approach to Christian living in:
- A daily walk with the Lord
- Efficient use of resources
- Local church involvement
- Ministry-spiritual leader with humbleness and submission to the Lord as a servant leader
Specific
Ensures Quantity (growth) of the Good News Clubs in schools in the District.
- Promotes expansion of the GNC program in new schools in the District
- Makes GNC program known via interactions with others in the communities.
- Informs Director and Good News Club Coordinator of key contacts and PR opportunities
- Promotes the growth of established clubs via invitation to new children
Ensures Quality of Good News Clubs in schools in the District
- Conducts periodic visits to clubs and evaluates adherence to CEF Policies
Oversees ASGNC Team Leaders and their teams
- Ensures all team participants are reported on Club Roster with Child Protection clearance
- Ensures Monthly Statistical Reports (Stats) are reported to chapter office within 5 days
- Ensures communication is maintained between club, sponsor and Chapter Prayer Coordinator
- Ensures administrative responsibilities are completed
- Facilitates contact with school offices as needed to accomplish club arrangements
Meets regularly with Local Director and provides monthly written DTL Report.

State Director of Training

QUALIFICATIONS
The candidate must be confident of God’s calling and:
- Have a demonstrated a solid walk with Christ for a minimum of five years
- Trustworthy and honorable in conversation and confidentiality, inside/outside the office
- Good inter-personal skills, organizational skills and communication skills
- Self-motivated and able to multi-task
- Be experienced in youth ministry and mentorship with teens
- Proficient keyboarding, clerical and computer skills- is familiar with email, internet, Dropbox and Microsoft Office software; Excel, Power Point, Publisher & Word
- Computer graphic skills are helpful but not required
- Preferred experience working with volunteers
Specific Responsibilities
Christian Youth in Action
- Oversee the Christian Youth in Action (CYIA) program and planning committee
- Determine the reporting structure for staff and delegate according to roles
- Work with the designated administrator to prepare and timely distribute information to staff and students
- Set up a budget to outline the cost of Training School.
- Determine, in consultation with the Class Instruction Coordinator, Training School’s schedule; e.g. tracks, activities to include, etc.
- Set and enforce key deadlines for registrations, Training School fees to be collected, schedules to be finalized, etc.
- Track and account for all receipts and expenses
- Work with the CYIA Council, and employ social media and other means to promote CYIA
Oversee Training for Local Coordinators and Directors & Staff
- Develop a Plan of Action on how to accomplish the training and development for local chapters
- Develop a Plan of Action to provide training support to regions without chapters
- Coordinate IOT Courses and ensure that IOT’s maintain their credentials
- Provide/oversee on-site training and support for curriculum workshops
Teacher Training Assistance for developing and existing local areas
- Implement the pattern for the best GNC training and to establish it in the new areas
- Encourage that pattern of training to be implemented in existing areas
- Visit existing area trainings to gain more insight and possible techniques and share with all chapters
- Provide Teaching Children Effectively-1 (TCE-1) courses twice a year, once being at CYIA, if feasible
- Oversee and assist with Super Seminars and Quick Start training, particularly with developing chapters
Other Responsibilities
- Take necessary training and/or meet requirements to provide higher level of trainings for the state
- Raise needed financial support
- Ensure compliance of CEF policies and procedures

General Responsibilities
Christian Youth in Action
- Fulfilling the purpose of Child Evangelism Fellowship in the chapter
- Executing and accomplishing the plans and objectives of USA Ministries, the local committee and state board
- Overseeing all aspects of the ministry within the local chapter with the assistance of the local committee, volunteers and staff
Ministry
- Understand that the foundation of ministry is prayer and lead by example in being committed to developing, implementing, improving and growing an effective local prayer program.
- Promote the ministry in the local chapter with the goal of increasing church partnerships and primary ministries of After-School Good News Club (ASGNC) and 5-Day Clubs staffed by Christian Youth In Action® (CYIA).
- Recruit staff and volunteers, ensuring that they are adequately trained and equipped for ministry.
- Maintain direct ministry contact with children through CEF sponsored programs.
- Build and maintain Christian Youth In Action® (CYIA) ministry. Enlist staff and volunteers to help recruit short-term missionaries. Provide additional ministry opportunities to CYIA missionaries.
- Arrange and help present training such as Kick-Off & Quick Start Training for ASGNC in the fall and Jump Start in February for CYIA and potential CYIA.
- Promote further opportunities to serve-including Short-term Missions and other CEF ministries.
- Participate in the CYIA training school as assigned by the state director.
Leadership
- Work with the local committee in providing vision and strategic plans for evangelizing and discipling all children within the chapter, striving to establish them with local churches.
- Recruit people to do the work of the ministry (both paid and volunteer).
- Meet regularly with the paid and volunteer staff members to provide encouragement, counsel, evaluation of ministry goals and leadership development.
- Encourage the local committee to take advantage of available committee training opportunities.
- Work with the local committee in raising sufficient funds for the ministry.
- Complete routine employee appraisals with all paid staff.
- Oversee (and teach, if necessary) the teacher training program and provides the necessary training for the staff to perform their job well.
Administrative
- Ensure that all CEF policies and procedures are being followed and proper governance is maintained.

- Work with the local committee to develop an annual budget at the beginning of the fiscal year for approval by the local committee and submission to the state director.

The Assistant State Director works alongside the State Director in:
- Fulfilling the purpose of Child Evangelism Fellowship® (CEF) within the Commonwealth of Virginia.
- Executing and accomplishing the plans and objectives of the CEF of Virginia state board and CEF USA Ministries.
- Assisting in the oversight and building of ministry within the state, particularly pioneering and fulfilling the State Board’s strategic regional planning.

Responsibilities
The Assistant State Director will provide assistance to the State Director, local directors and local committees in building ministry throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia. This objective will include, but not be limited to:
- Spearheading the state’s pioneering effort by developing new chapters from unchartered areas:
- Recruit potential committee members and volunteers
- Assist in the identification and hiring or promoting staff
- Assisting existing chapters to develop areas in accordance with the State Board’s strategic regional plan
- Establishing and providing oversight of externship program
- Establishing CEF student organizations at Virginia Christian colleges, enlisting them to get involved in CEF ministry
- Helping with the state’s training efforts to conduct CEF ministry
- Assist State Director with strategic planning
- Assist with event planning and coordination of promotional events and yearly statewide retreat

The Personnel Manager will provide assistance to the State Director This objective will include, but not be limited to:
- Report to the State Director
- Assist in the identification and hiring or promoting staff
- Create job descriptions, post positions, screen applicants, facilitate interviews, conduct employment verifications and reference checks to hire staff
- Handle personnel paperwork, including leave requests, CEF USA forms, time sheets, etc. for state and chapters
- Assist with the hiring for various chapter staff positions
- Administer personality profile tests to job applicants
- Attend college & other job fairs
- Help promote student internships and externships, work with the Chapters and State Office on appropriate job duties for such students, and monitor their progress
- Review Local Coordinator R-11a monthly reports, noting progress, difficulties and problems, and report to State Director matters needing attention
- Prepare for staff performance reviews
- Assist State Director with staff development plans
- Inform qualified staff when they are eligible for the retirement program and assist those who wish to enroll
- State Board & Committee Recruitment
- Work with local chapters to identify those within their community with suitable personnel, financial and ministry experience to recommend as Committee candidates
- Work with the local chapters to present candidate information to the Personnel Committee for review and approval of new committee members
- Work with the State Board to identify those within the state with suitable personnel, financial, ministry, public relations & fund-raising, and strategic planning experience to recommend as State Board candidates
- Keep track of board and committee terms of service and alert the board and committee when a member’s term will expire or may be renewed
- Handle state and federal personnel regulatory matters, including the EEOC, worker’s compensation claims, and the Department of Labor and the Virginia Employment Commission matters
- Conduct investigations of complaints and other personnel matters
- Prepare personnel actions for consideration of the State Board’s Personnel Committee and full board
- Keep up-to-date with changes in the law and apprise the State Director regarding the need for any policy recommendations as a result of them
- Provide basic training to chapters’ leaders regarding structured interviews, documenting personnel matters, and other appropriate hiring, on-boarding, evaluating, staff care and firing protocols.

Development and Event Manager

Overview
In this role, you will be handling communications with current donors, engaging in strategic planning to create ways to connect with new and future donors, and helping manage and develop the current development infrastructure. In addition, you will work closely with other members of the CEF team, including other departments and area chapters, to ensure our mission is being met, donor databases are being maintained, and the lines of communication between donors and the organization are open. Ideal candidates will have previous fundraising experience or experience working with a nonprofit organization, strong communication skills, and excellent problem-solving skills.

- Previous development experience required
- Ability to juggle multiple priorities and deadlines
- Ability to demonstrate professionalism in written and verbal communication

Responsibilities
The Personnel Manager will provide assistance to the State Director This objective will include, but not be limited to:
- Work closely with other leaders and fundraisers to bring awareness to our organization
- Assist in the identification and hiring or promoting staff
- Connect with current and potential donors, representing our organization and mission
- Create letter and electronic appeals to individuals, businesses and churches
- Oversee and give direction to the State Office and local chapters in planning for and holding banquets, golf tournaments, auctions, walks and benefit concerts.
- Assist with the creation and implementation of new fundraising efforts or events to generate interest in the mission
- Work with the State Director and Office Manager on the annual Statewide Retreat
- Promote business and other sponsorships of Good News Club®, Christian Youth in Action®, 5-Day Club® and other CEF ministries.
- Promote business and other sponsorships of District Team Leader positions throughout the state
- Work closely with the State Director to ensure development efforts are matching mission needs

- Aggressively pursue church partnerships which will fulfill the purpose of CEF: evangelize, disciple and establish the next generation to God and His church.
- Be able to identify, enlist, equip, develop, and encourage others to become an effective, multi-staff team serving God in this ministry.
- Be involved in a minimum level of direct ministry with children to maintain an understanding of today’s child and to adequately evaluate the effectiveness of CEF programs.
- Be able to identify students (grades 9 – college) who may be potential CYIAers, personally participate in CYIA as assigned by state leadership, and help CYIA become/remain successful.
- Establish, develop, and improve ministry effectiveness throughout the entire chapter.

Overview
The District Team Leader (DTL) is responsible for the oversight of the After-School Good News Clubs (GNCs) in the assigned District; ensures the quantity (growth) and quality of the Clubs. The expectation is that the DTL will work 20-25 hours per week.
