Some of you may have heard me share the exciting news from Pastor Jerry Eggers in Abingdon about six Good News Clubs that he helps oversee there. During the first week of their operating, 52 children prayed to receive Jesus Christ as their Savior! Within the first three weeks, and the addition of another club, 115 children had prayed to receive Christ! Pastor Eggers said that he is seeing a spiritual hunger that he has not seen before, and saved children are desiring Bibles. One little girl was given a Bible after club time and ran to her mom clutching it and saying, “Look what I got!”
The spiritual hunger is evident in other parts of Virginia, too. This time of year, CEF puts on many Christmas Party Clubs. Barbara Wilson, our Director of Training, gathered and trained a Good News Club team at Victoria Baptist Church in Victoria, which held a Christmas Party Club (see above). Eighty children attended. Of those children, 21 of them (more than 25%) prayed to receive Christ! Hallelujah!
